Hi there, I am Sofia
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. An expat currently based in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the original plan. Like many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were demanding— unfamiliar processes, new routines, heightened expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock and steady uncertainty, with much learning on the fly. Over time, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built NovelGroveCrest
Most online content was corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism info. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is about:
- Practical insights from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a meaningful change
This site isn't:
- A tourism board resource
- Paid review platform
- Just another travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or across Italy, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Sofia
